Townscape Heritage Initiative
This is a Heritage Lottery-Funded (HLF) scheme aimed at repairing under-used historic buildings, to help restore their economic viability.
The £3.5m scheme has been matched by funding from Rotherham Borough Council and Yorkshire Forward.
The scheme focuses on key buildings around the Minster and High Street and has already ensured the following:
Provided grant funding to the property owner of Number 20 High Street (former Supercigs unit) for a complete refurbishment including new shop front, introduction of two one-bedroom apartments and refurbished retail unit (44 sqm)
Grant offer made and works to start shortly on the Hamby's, Zax hairdressers and Little Coffee Shop properties on High Street, to include new shopfronts and restoration of period features.
£150,000 flood lighting scheme now complete to the Minster.
Works started and due to complete this Autumn on the £700,000 landscaping scheme within the Minster Yard.
