Townscape Heritage Initiative
This is a Heritage Lottery-Funded (HLF) scheme aimed at repairing under-used historic buildings, to help restore their economic viability.
A scheme focused on key buildings around the Minster and High Street is starting in November and promises to do all this
Provide grant funding to eligible property owners for the repair and restoration of specific building frontages, including new shop fronts and traditional sash windows.
Make £1.4 million worth of improvements to the public space in the High Street and Minster Yard
Target specific listed buildings at risk of disappearing, including the Three Cranes Inn at 25-27 High Street, and the George Wright building on Snail Hill.
Deliver sustainable conservation in the town centre by raising the standards of repair and by bringing new uses and life back into the High Street area
