Everything we do is based around our 10 goals set by the broad-based Rotherham Town Team- our plans, our development and our future.
Please read our goals and if you have any comments or questions about Rotherham Renaissance, then get in touch and we'll do our best to answer them for you.

The 10 goals are:

  1. We want the river and the canal to form a key part in the town's future. Development along the canal must be of an extraordinary quality and must follow an agreed master plan. We want the river and the canal to become much loved parts of the town with public spaces ad walkways lining their banks.
  2. We want to populate the town's centre. We believe that creating town centre living is critical. To sustain the long term health of the town centre we want to improve existing housing stock and provide greater choice and accessibility to good quality housing.
  3. We want to place Rotherham within a sustainable landscape setting of the highest quality, giving its citizens access to beautiful countryside, outdoor recreation, leisure, and healthy living. At the same time we wish to enrich and extend the network of parks and green spaces in the town.
  4. We want to place Rotherham at the centre of a public transport network that connects Rotherham's satellite communities into the town and joins the town to the rest of the sub-region including the new Robin Hood Doncaster - Sheffield airport.
  5. We want to remove and downgrade parts of major road infrastructure that encircle the town centre - roads that currently sever the town centre from its surrounding suburbs. In particular we want to remove the river-side section of Centenary Way and restore the original radial street pattern.
  6. We want to make Forge Island a major new piece of the town centre. It represents a unique opportunity to create a new piece of townscape surrounded on all sides by water and connected to the rest of the town by beautiful and extraordinary bridges.
  7. We want to establish a new civic focus for the town which not only promotes a more open and accessible type of governance but also embraces a culture and the arts.
  8. We want the best in architecture, urban design and public spaces for Rotherham and will no longer accept the mediocre or the banal.
  9. We want to improve community access to health, education and promote social being, as a key component of any major transformation within the town. In particular we want to improve opportunities for the young and disadvantaged.
  10. Â We want a broadly based, dynamic local economy with a vibrant town centre as its focus, capitalising upon new public spaces, and a new riverside. In particular we want the town centre to become a place of employment with shops, offices, workshops and cultural facilities.
